The Research Documentation Centre helps all researchers at the Centre for Social Sciences with their data management questions. It curates and publishes research data from all four institutes. The Voices of the 20th Century Archive also operates within its framework, maintaining an ever growing collection of tens of thousands of historical interviews and multimedia data of the history of sociology in Hungary since the 1970s.
In addition, the Research Documentation Centre leads and coordinates the HUN-REN Data Repository Platform, the ARP. It is a recently established multidisciplinary repository, a metadata schema registry and a hub to search all digital research data in Hungary. ARP collects research data from all research centres and institutes from the research network formerly belonging to the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, now part of HUN-REN and ELTE University. The Research Documentation Centre has also established and leads a new network of data stewards operating across all these research institutions.
The Research Documentation Centre currently leads the ONTOLISST project, funded by the OSCARS funding scheme of the EU. The project partners from Finland, France and Hungary study how thematic ontologies and controlled vocabularies are used in data archives. They also aim to facilitate the use of thematic metadata in social science research with NLP-aided tools and an easy-to-use thesaurus.
